HanesBrands have had a declining revenue over the past ten years with the decline of sales of hosiery. In 1995 their revenue from hosiery was US$895 million but in 2006 the hosiery sales only reached $290 million. In an interview with the Associated Press, vice-president of HanesBrands, Romaine Sargent, said that the cause of this was "The casualization of the workplace--it is not as strict as before." [2]

The company's two main competitors are Fruit of the Loom and Jockey International.
