Harlington is a place in the London Borough of Hillingdon. It is a suburban development situated 13.5 miles (21.7 km) west of Charing Cross.
It is located on the northern perimeter of London Heathrow Airport.
Its name is recorded in Anglo-Saxon as Hygereding tun = "Hygerǣd's people's farmstead".
From 1930 to 1965 it formed part of Hayes and Harlington Urban District.
Harlington residents are also served by an Ofcom-licensed community radio station, 91.8 Hayes FM, a service which fits Ofcom's remit of local radio services.
