Review

Concert harpist and spiritual composer Georgia Kelly usually records her own compositions. On Harp & Soul, she offers two romantic variations of favorite love songs--"Evergreen" by Barbra Streisand and Paul Williams and "The Rose" by Amanda McBroom. Kelly adds the eternally sublime "Arioso" by J.S. Bach to the piece. Sax player Richard Hardy joins Kelly on "Three Gymnopedies" by Eric Satie, which transforms Satie's languid tempos into a sultry, earthy stroll. "Chiavenna," with Hardy on flute, has a wistful, yet pastoral, feeling. Kelly's opening theme on "Duration" is deeply touching, and when Hardy enters on clarinet, the piece becomes sublimely noble as well. ~ Carol Wright, All Music Guide
