Biography

American leading man Harry Myers appeared in many Hollywood silent and early sound films. He is best remembered as the strange, boozy tycoon who alternately befriends and rejects Chaplin's tramp in City Lights (1931). Harry Myers (5 September 1882 – 25 December 1938), was an American film actor and director. He appeared in 245 films between 1908 and 1939, and directed 42 films between 1913 and 1917.

He was born in New Haven, Connecticut, and died in Hollywood, California from pneumonia. He was married to the actress Rosemary Theby.

Myers received the world's first speeding ticket in 1904, Dayton, Ohio. Police ticketed him for going twelve miles per hour on West Third Street. [1] [2]
