Hat Trick has a trick or two up its, er, sleeve when it comes to creating comedy programming. Hat Trick Productions is one of the top independent TV producers in the UK, specializing in comedy and other light entertainment aired by the BBC and other networks. Among the company's hits are "The Kumars at No 42", "Have I Got News For You", "Father Ted", and "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" (The company produced both UK and US versions of the latter.) Investment firm Kleinwort Capital owns about 45% of Hat Trick Productions; the remainder is owned by former spouses (and current co-managing directors) Jimmy Mulville and Denise O'Donoghue, who founded the production company in 1989.
