Plot

Tom Mix always had a love for comedy -- if not always the wherewithal -- and The Heart Buster must have disappointed the action fans among his public. The film was based on an original story by George Scarborough, The Love Bandit, and depicts the hero's trouble convincing a girl (Esther Ralston) that the man she is about to marry is a scoundrel. That fact is quite clear to the viewing audience the first time they spot Cyril Chadwick's dapper moustache, but western heroines were notoriously dense, even such usually level-headed ones as Ralston. Happily, Mix followed this absurd charade (for an action hero) with a solid version of Zane Grey's The Last of the Duanes (1924). ~ Hans J. Wollstein, All Movie Guide
