A simple test which gives a rough estimate of aerobic fitness.
▪ Lie on your back and relax for about 5 minutes. Take your pulse. Slowly get up and, after standing for 10-15 seconds, take your pulse again. The difference between your lying or supine pulse and your standing pulse indicates your fitness: a difference of 0-7 is good; 8-11, average; and 12-19, poor.
