Hedensted municipality is a municipality (Danish, kommune) in Region Midtjylland on the Jutland peninsula in central Denmark. The municipality covers an area of 565 km² and has a total population of 45,561 (2008). Its mayor is Jørn Juhl Nielsen, a member of the Social Democrats (Socialdemokraterne) political party. The main town and the site of its municipal council is the town of Hedensted.
The municipality is also a part of the East Jutland metropolitan area whit 1,2 mio inhabitants. [1].
On January 1, 2007, as the result of Kommunalreformen ("The Municipal Reform" of 2007), the former Juelsminde municipality and most of Tørring-Uldum municipality was merged into Hedensted municipality.
