Hēliodōrus

 

Hēliodōrus of Emesa in Syria, author of the Greek novel the Aethiopica (or Theagenes and Charicleia). Nothing certain is known of his life, which is dated variously in the third and fourth centuries AD, but he has been identified with a Christian bishop in Thessaly of that name. See NOVEL 1.
