A blue to blackish-brown compound formed in the oxidation of hemoglobin and containing ferric iron. Also called ferriheme, oxyheme, oxyhemochromogen.

A compound formed by the oxidation of heme from the ferrous Fe(II) to the ferric Fe(III) state; it does not combine with oxygen.
