French Literature Companion:

Henri Meschonnic

Meschonnic, Henri (b. 1932). French poet and professor of linguistics. His poems (e.g. Dédicaces proverbes, 1972) and biblical translations are closely related to a theoretical enterprise beginning with Pour la poétique (1970-8), an ambitious attempt to overcome the dualities characteristic of modern thinking about literature and language.
