Norwood, Henry (1614-89) royalist soldier, treasurer and auditor of Virginia (1650-82), born in Gloucester, England. Norwood spent only a few months in Virginia, in 1650. Arriving after a passage undertaken following the beheading of Charles I, he was made treasurer and quitrent receiver by his cousin Sir William Berkeley, the royal governor. Later that same year he returned to England, where he worked surreptitiously for the restoration of the monarchy.
