(1656–1735)
German architect and carpenter to the Duke of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel, he supervised the building of a huge, largely timber Schloss Salzdahlum, designed by Johann Balthasar Lauterbach (1660–94—demolished), with certain architectural motifs that anticipated the work of Hildebrandt at the Belvedere, Vienna. He also appears to have designed the elliptical library at Wolfenbüttel (1706–13), but his only remaining work is the Dreifaltigkeitskirche (Church of the Holy Trinity), Wolfenbüttel (1716–22), with its tiers of galleries opening to an octagonal space.
