Herring Dip

Recipe origin: United States Jewish Americans

Ingredients

  • 1 large jar herring cut up
  • 1 green pepper, diced
  • 1 bunch green onions, sliced
  • 2 cups sour cream
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 Tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 Tablespoon sugar

Procedure

  1. Remove herring from jar and chop coarsely.
  2. Combine all ingredients together in a mixing bowl, adding herring last.
  3. Serve with bread, crackers, bread sticks, or cut-up raw vegetables.

Serves about 12.
