Hesperidğs

Hesperidğs in Greek myth, the daughters of Night (Nyx) and Darkness (Erebus) who lived in the extreme West on the edge of Ocean, guarding a tree that produced golden apples (see HERACLES, LABOURS OF 11), a present given by Gaia to Hera when the latter married Zeus. The tree was also watched by the dragon Ladon (whom Heracles killed). From the same tree came the apples thrown down before Atalanta.
