Hiroko Ōta (大田弘子 Ōta Hiroko?, born 2 February 1954 , Kagoshima, Kagoshima) is a female Japanese politician and a researcher of economics. She graduated from Hitotsubashi University in 1976. Her academic specialties are national public finance and economic policy. She is a noted lecturer of on public finance.

Ōta currently serves as the Japanese cabinet minister of economic policy, which is responsible for charging economic policy and public finance. Prior to her appointment, she was a vice-professor of the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (政策研究大学院大学 Seisaku Kenkyu Daigakuin Daigaku?).
