This documentary chronicles the life of King Hussein of Jordan, who became king of that country in 1953, and ruled for the next 47 years. His grandfather, King Abdullah, was assassinated in 1951. His father, who suffered from schizophrenia, was declared unfit to rule. His mother, Queen Zane, ruled the country for 2 years, until Hussein took the throne at the age of seventeen. Educated in England, Hussein pursued a moderate, pro-West policy, while fostering pan-Arab alliances. He withstood the tempests of war with Israel, and the Palestine Liberation Army. He endured through illness, wars, assassination attempts, accidents, coups attempts.
