Term used by Schütz and other German Baroque composers for the musical setting of a biblical story. In the late Middle Ages the term designated a day's antiphons and responsories of the Divine Office.

Historia is a Canadian French language cable television specialty channel which presents informative and entertainment programming related to history in the form of dramas, films, documentaries, human interests programs and more. The channel is owned by Astral Media and CW Media (a division of Canwest and GS Capital Partners).

History

Licensed by the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) as Canal Historie[citation needed] to Alliance Atlantis and Premier Choix Networks (Astral), the channel was launched on January 31, 2000 as Historia.

On January 18, 2008, a joint venture between Canwest and GS Capital Partners bought Alliance Atlantis and gained AAC's interest in Historia. In addition, the new company also acquired its English language counterpart, History Television.

Historia-HD.png On October 30, 2006 Astral Media launched an HD simulcast of Historia.
