1. Brief commercial mention at the tail end or immediately following the sponsor's final commercial in a broadcast program. The hitchhike advertises a product manufactured by the sponsor but heretofore unmentioned during the time period presented by the sponsor. It is so named because it "hitches a ride" with a commercial for another of the manufacturer's products.
2. Ten- to twenty-second period for commercials or announcements immediately following a program and immediately preceding station identification.
