Holabird & Root

 

The successor-firm to Holabird & Roche, founded in 1927 by John Augur Holabird (1886–1945), and John Wellborn Root, Jr. (1887–1963). They designed several Art-Deco skyscrapers including the Palmolive Building (1928–9), Board of Trade Building (1929–30), Daily News Building (1928–9), and the Travel and Transport Building (1930–3), all in Chicago, IL. Later, they were responsible for the Illinois Bell Telephone Company Building, Northbrook (1970–3), the Hollister Incorporated Building, Libertyville (1979–81), and the Motorola Center, Schaumberg (1990–4), all in IL.
