Review

In 1990, Priority was quite successful in hip-hop thanks to N.W.A, Ice Cube and Eazy-E, and the company had hopes of successfully recording dance music when it made the mistake of signing Tres. This all-female Latin trio from Boston went for a dance-pop approach along the lines of Sweet Sensation and the Cover Girls. But while those groups had some decent grooves here and there, Tres' debut album, Hold On to Your Dreams, is an embarrassment from start to finish. The members of Tres are weak-voiced and devoid of personality, and dreadful tunes like "Let Me Inside Your Heart," "Let Me Feel Your Body" and the single "I Can't Hang Any Longer" are about as faceless and mechanical as it gets. Very few people had anything nice to say about this soulless CD, which was a commercial disaster as well as an artistic one. Thankfully, Tres never recorded a second album. ~ Alex Henderson, All Music Guide
