"Home Tonight" is a song by American hard rock band Aerosmith. Written by lead singer Steven Tyler, the song is a ballad and is the last track on Aerosmith's masterpiece hard rock album Rocks. It was released as the second single from Rocks in 1976 and reached #71 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Song structure

The song starts out with drums and guitar, played by Joey Kramer and Joe Perry and Brad Whitford respectively and the bass of Tom Hamilton, accompanies the intro. Then Steven Tyler came up with the main riff "Now it's time..." using a low-tone setting on his keyboard. At this part the other instruments make a stop for a while, until he finished the "...to bid you sweet adieu" part of verses and then the whole band returns dynamically. After the chorus Brad Whitford plays the guitar solo which leads to the chorus again, followed by an outro with Joe Perry on lead guitar. The song is supported by background vocals and the escort of Steven Tyler's keyboard.
