Biography

Brooklyn native Matt Szwed had been successfully working as a producer in the New York City area when he started to realize he no longer was interested in his job. He realized he wanted to create an ambient-rock sound that was based in folk rock, so he searched for musicians that shared his vision. First came Jacob Feinberg-Pyne, then guitarist Mike Philips, essentially solidifying the basic lineup. When drummer Than Luu was brought to their attention, he was added to the fold and they began recording together. The results were Every Way We Lose, an EP released on Noise Element in the summer of 2002. By December 2002, Honey Creeper had changed their name to the Memes and reissued Every Way We Lose under their new moniker, but sadly the group lasted only another seven months, disbanding in July of 2003. ~ Bradley Torreano, All Music Guide
