1. Canada (Nunavut): a river named after Robert Hood, a member of Sir John Franklin's expedition (1819–22) along the southern shores of Coronation Gulf, who was murdered by Native Americans.
2. USA (Oregon): a mountain first sighted in 1792 and named after the British Admiral Samuel Hood (1724–1816), 1st Viscount Hood, who fought in the American War of Independence (1775–83) and was commander-in-chief in the Mediterranean (1793–4). The Hood River is also named after him.
