Review

Great White followed their breakthrough effort, ...Twice Shy, with the well-crafted, professional Hooked. Although the band wears their influences on their sleeves -- the bluesy wail of Led Zeppelin and the lean, driving riffs of AC/DC being obvious touchstones -- Hooked is a consistently rocking, high-quality mainstream hard rock album. It didn't achieve the commercial heights of its predecessor, probably because of the lack of one instantly recognizable killer single on the level of "Once Bitten, Twice Shy" or "Rock Me," but Hooked still stands as one of Great White's best efforts. Highlights include "Call It Rock N' Roll" and Desert Moon." ~ Steve Huey, All Music Guide

Hooked is the fifth full length studio album by Great White. It was released in 1990. Though lacking a recognizable single and not commercially as successful as ...Twice Shy it still managed to peak at #18 on the Billboard200 album charts and it was critically well received. The original album cover art was photographed by John Scarpati. It featured a nude female model being hoisted out of the sea by a large hook. This cover was replaced shortly after the initial pressing to an alternate cover that had the hook still below the sea level and the model partially submerged so that only her head and arms were visible. The initial Japanese pressing retained the original cover, and added a bonus cd entitled Live in New York, recorded at Electric Lady Studios in 1991.
