Fair use for anticlericalism Martyrs of the Spanish Civil War and Persecution of Christians

Though this image may be subject to copyright, its use is covered by the U.S. fair use laws because:

  1. It is a historically significant photo of a famous event. (Bookchin, Murray After Fifty Years: The Spanish Civil War Spunk Library; Piersen, Peter History of Spain p.122 (1999 Greenwood Press)) The church depicted was converted to a "casa del pueblo" or "house of the people" by leftists during the Spanish civil war.
  2. It is of much lower resolution than the original.
  3. The photo is only being used for informational purposes.
  4. Its inclusion in the article adds significantly to the article because the photo and its historical significance are the object of discussion in the article.
  5. The image is not replaceable by a free image, because, even if the church still exists, it is no longer a "house of the people" and does not bear the "Casa del pueblo" sign which made it historically significant.
