how to spoof your technical friend

Computer Desktop Encyclopedia: how to spoof your technical friend

To have a light-hearted joke with your technical colleagues, take the highest clock rate of an Intel CPU chip and triple it. Then, say something like "did you hear about Intel's 10 gigahertz CPU? They kept it a secret for a long time, but just unleashed it last week to destroy the competition!" Expect a "wow" reaction, or "that's impossible!"

Be careful. You have to stay on top of the numbers. Years ago, 100MHz (100 megahertz) sounded unbelievable. Today, chip speeds have reached 3 GHz and beyond. See also buffer flush and Stringy Floppy.
