History

HSBC Insurance Brokers can trace its origins back to the founding of the firm by Antony Gibbs, the old-established London merchant bank, in the City of London in 1808. In 1973, The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation obtained a share in Antony Gibbs, and took full ownership in 1980. The bulk of this business was later subsumed into the Group, but the insurance connection continues as HSBC Insurance Brokers.

Operations

The HSBC Group enables HSBC Insurance Brokers to evaluate insurance in a broader business sense with immediate access to specialist advice and services in areas such as trade finance, cash and investment management, treasury and foreign exchange, as well as processing services and financial controls and disciplines. It has offices in Bermuda, Italy, Singapore, China, South Korea, Sweden, Cyprus, Oman, Taiwan, Hong Kong SAR, Pakistan, United Arab Emirates, India, Philippines and United Kingdom.
