human development model

Sports Science and Medicine: human development model

educational model

A framework around which the study of behaviour may take place. The model incorporates statements about desirable goals; focuses on sequential change; emphasizes techniques of optimisation, rather than remediation; considers the individual as an integrated biopsychosocial unit and therefore amenable to a multidisciplinary focus; and views individuals as developing in a biocultural context. There is, therefore, more concern with development of a person's potential than with the therapeutic or remedial handling of a person's social or emotional problems.
