Forniphilia is a subset of bondage and sexual objectification in which a person's body is incorporated into a chair, table, cabinet or other piece of furniture. The term was originally coined by Jeff Gord (of House of Gord).[1]
Forniphilia is an extreme form of bondage because the subject usually is tightly bound and expected to stay immobile for an indefinite period of time. They are often gagged and/or placed in position where there is a danger of being smothered. It is imperative that the dominant that is putting a submissive in such peril check his or her condition every few minutes.
Examples
- François-Rupert Carabin, in the illustrated catalog for the 1893 Salon des Beaux-Arts, contributed two drawings of sculptures of women as part of chairs.[2]
- Allen Jones' sculptures Hat Stand and Table Sculpture, made in 1969, show semi-naked women in the roles of furniture.
- The hentai anime Cool Devices features women used as furniture in the underground sado-masochist world of the first episode.
- The cult horror-exploitation film Blood Sucking Freaks (1976) features several scenes with nude slave girls used as human chairs, tables, and even a dart board.
