The storm that became Hurricane Emily was born on July 10, 2005, and was named Tropical Storm Emily the next day. It killed one person in Grenada on July 14, then four in Jamaica. It made landfall in Mexico twice, once on the Yucatan Peninsula on July 18, causing three deaths, and again July 20 along the Gulf of Mexico, near south Texas. Tornados were expected in Texas as a possible accompaniment to Emily.
