Of course 12000 years ago North America was supposedly covered in a layer of ice two miles thick.

Another View: If the continent of North America was covered by the Continental Ice Shelf 12,000 years ago, since no known maps of that time exist, it could not possibly have had a name.

The reference to the name Hy Brasil is incorrect.

Hy Brasil refers to a mythical island supposedly located somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean west of Ireland - sometimes thought to be, the equally mythical, Atlantis.
