Hybald (Hibald, Higbald) (7th century), abbot in Linconshire. He is mentioned by Bede as being very holy and abstemious in connection with a vision of the death of Cedd by Egbert. Four Lincolnshire churches were dedicated to him and Hibaldstow takes its name from his grave there, also recorded by R.P.S. His name occurs in the Durham Liber Vitae; it has been conjectured by D.C.B. that his monastery was Bardney. Feast: 14 December (in 11th-century martyrology of Exeter).
