(computer science) A synthesis of triple modular redundancy and standby replacement redundancy, consisting of a triple modular redundancy system (or, in general, an N-modular redundancy system) with a bank of spares so that when one of the units in the triple modular redundancy system fails it is replaced by a spare unit.
