hymenaeus

hymenaeus wedding-song sung by the bride's attendants as they escorted her to the groom's house (see also EPITHALAMIUM). The name was derived from the custom at Greek weddings of calling out, Hymen o Hymenaie, supposedly an invocation to a deity, Hymen, who presided over weddings.
