Sports Science and Medicine: hypermobile joint disease

A condition in which the joints are excessively mobile ('double-jointed'). It may be congenital, but it also occurs in young athletes who do too much flexibility training. Some of these youngsters may suffer growing pains. In later life they may develop osteoarthritis, joint pains, recurrent dislocations, and other musculoskeletal disorders.
