1. abnormally decreased sensitivity.
2. the state of being less sensitive to a specific allergen after repeated and gradually increasing doses of the particular allergen. This is believed to be due to an increase in circulating antibodies, particularly IgG to the allergen. The antibodies form complexes with the incoming allergen and prevent it from binding to IgE bound to mast cells.
