Hyundai could be the Korean term for "diverse." The trading corporation operates through four divisions: trading (manufactured goods), overseas investment (steel processing, real estate), shipbuilding, and resources development (natural resource investments). Hyundai Corporation is a South Korean company founded in 1976, as a part of the Hyundai Group. It is composed of five divisions: Automobile and Electrical Equipment, Ship and Machinery, Steel, Brand and Commodities, and Natural Resources; these are supported by two departments: Financial Management and Corporate Planning, and Personnel Management.

It is a general trading company providing export and import services with a wide variety of products ranging from ocean-going vessels, plants and machinery, automobiles, steel and chemical products, to electronic products and general commodities.

Hyundai Corporation is also owner of Qingdao Hyundai Shipbuilding, and a joint-venture partner with POSCO of Pos-Hyundai Steel in India.


It has 32 worldwide offices. The President and CEO is Mr. Noh Young-don.
