This Italian farce, a pairing for the popular comic duo of Terence Hill and Bud Spencer, is light but likeable stuff. I Due Super piedipiatti is essentially an overstuffed shaggy-dog tale in which the story itself is less important that the extended slapstick comedy setpieces that prop it up (in fact, the actual plot content of the film could be covered in about twenty minutes). Thus, the appeal of I Due Super piedipiatti will depend solely on one's opinion of Hill and Spencer's antics. Thankfully, the two get plenty to do humor-wise and show off their chops at every occasion: highlights include memorable brawls that pit the duo against gangs of tough guys in a diner, on a football field and in a bowling alley. Their natural chemistry -- with Hill being the instigator and Spencer being the long-suffering cleanup man -- works well; even when the material is slim. There is also some nice support from David Huddleston as a pleasantly clueless police chief and Laura Gemser as an immigrant that Hill takes a liking to. Director Enzo Barboni lets the antics run on a little longer than they should at two hours but he has a good eye for capturing humor visually and always makes good use of his two stars. In short, I Due Super piedipiatti is shaggy around the edges but fans of slapstick humor will find it endearing enough to pull them through. ~ Donald Guarisco, All Movie Guide
