Review

This subtly-titled English import is a two-disc set of dancefloor/party-oriented material. It's a bit schizophrenic, jumping wildly between vintage disco, modern club/dance, classic rock faves, and the occasional novelty. But there's very little filler, and clever sequencing ensures effortless flow between the genres. Disc One includes the usual party compilation crowd pleasers like "Lady Marmalade" and the Four Seasons' "December '63" [Oh What a Night]." But there's also the Nolans' disco nugget "I'm in the Mood for Dancing," John Travolta's laughably sappy "Sandy," and ABBA and Beatles' medleys from Starsound. Disc Two might be stronger, kicking off with the irresistible Kylie Minogue single "Can't Get You Out of My Head" and continuing through Room 5's club hit "Make Luv" and Shaggy's "Boombastic." There's a deal-breaker buried in the middle in Baha Men, but DJ Otzi's "Hey Baby" features fun crowd participation. Later on there's Atomic Kitten, the Belinda Carlisle guilty pleasure "Heaven Is a Place on Earth," and another monstrous club hit in Spiller's "Groovejet [If This Ain't Love]." ~ Johnny Loftus, Rovi
