Plot

One of the better Three Stooges comedy two-reelers of the "Shemp era," I'm a Monkey's Uncle featured the boys as cavemen chasing after a trio of prehistoric lovelies, Aggie, Maggie, and Baggie (aka Columbia starlets Dee Green, Virginia Hunter, and Nancy Saunders). The latter seems to have spent her days at Columbia trekking endlessly back and forth between the Stooges and B-Western star Charles Starrett. The Stooges recycled footage from I'm a Monkey's Uncle for Stone Age Romeos (1955). ~ Hans J. Wollstein, All Movie Guide

I'm a Monkey's Uncle is the 110th short subject starring American slapstick comedy team the Three Stooges. The trio made a total of 190 shorts for Columbia Pictures between 1934 and 1959.

Plot

The Stooges are cavemen living in the stone age. They must tend to their daily chores, consisting of mixing milk, hunting fish, and gathering eggs. Such is life in the prehistoric times.

That afternoon, Moe has a date with his girlfriend, Aggie (Virginia Hunter). Shemp and Larry want to join, as Aggie has two sisters for the boys, Maggie (Nancy Saunders) and Baggie (Dee Green). When rival cavemen allege that the Stooges stole their women, a fight breaks out, with the trio catapulting rocks, mud and eggs at the cavemen.

Notes

  • The caveman footage from I'm a Monkey's Uncle was later used in the 1955 film Stone Age Romeos.
  • This is one of the few films in which Moe immitates his brother Curly. It happens during the scene when he is trying to hit the duck with the huge club, but ends up splashing water all over himself, which makes him get angry. As he is angry, Moe makes the same noise Curly does whenever he gets frustrated, mad, or crazy. The others films that Moe is seen making the same noises as Curly, are Who Done It?, and Malice in the Palace, due to certain scripts being written for Curly before his untimely illness.
