Biography

Fitting the mold of the great lost rock band, Disco Inferno forged new paths but reached few ears during their existence. However, the band's output -- especially their singles and second LP DI Go Pop, which is to the sampler what Electric Ladyland is to the guitar -- didn't fail to make a major impact on the fortunate who did hear them. After the culmination of numerous financial disasters and general lack of outside interest, leader Ian Crause disbanded DI in the mid-'90s. Shortly after that, he began working with a couple mates as Floorshow, an outfit that recorded an album's worth of material that Crause wasn't content with in the end. Despite this, Crause eventually signed to the Rough Trade-affiliated Tugboat label as a solo artist in the late '90s. He released the Elemental single in late 2000, which apparently consisted of salvaged Floorshow material. It was poppier and more conventionally constructed than any of his prior work. Three more songs from Crause were released by Acuarela in 2002 as Head Over Heels. ~ Andy Kellman, All Music Guide
