Ahmad ibn Muhammad Ibn Miskawayh

Ibn Miskawayh, Ahmad ibn Muhammad (c. 940-1030) Islamic humanist and Neoplatonist. Although he applied Greek philosophy to specifically Islamic issues, he rarely used religion to modify philosophy. He provides rules for moral health based on cultivation of character, and in this respect is allied to virtue ethics. His best-known work is the Tahdhib al-akhlaq, trans. as The Refinement of Character (1968).
