Biography

Idiot Flesh was comprised of members Dan Rathbun, Wes Anderson, Nils Frykdahl and Gene Jun; a highly idiosyncratic unit, their sound emerged largely from non-traditional instrumentation including bicycle horns, screwdrivers, saws and even a mailing tube. Debuting in 1995 with The Nothing Show, Idiot Flesh resurfaced two years later with Fancy. ~ Jason Ankeny, All Music Guide

Idiot Flesh was a band formed in Barrington Hall[1], a student co-op at the University of California at Berkeley. They formed in 1985 under the name Acid Rain, and their demo album "We Were All Very Worried" was released as a cassette-only edition in 1987. They changed their name to Idiot Flesh prior to the release of their first album.

Known to tour the US in a converted city bus with Rathbun as the driver/mechanic, with the windshield destination banner of "HELL." Besides their "rock against rock" attitude, they were also known to defy classification with marching band routines, performing puppet shows, and playing household items as instruments (in tune).

Idiot Flesh disbanded in 1998. Work is currently being done on their final album, which is as yet unnamed. There is also a rumor that a more professional DVD video is the works. A semi official DVD called View The Body was temporary available. It was a combination of multiple shows with incomplete or spliced together songs of variable quality. The rumor was that when the band was offered a record contract from a label, that it would disband before selling out. The final show was aptly on a Friday the 13th.
