Ignition is the second studio album by American punk rock band The Offspring, released on October 16, 1992. Due to the limited availability of their 1989 self-titled debut album (which had not been released on CD until six years later), many once considered this The Offspring's true debut album.[who?] At the time of its release, The Offspring were still not well known, and it wasn't until their next album, Smash, that they would achieve success.

The album had one outtake, "Mission from God", which was released on the compilation album Punk-O-Rama Vol. 10 in 2005. The track "Take It Like a Man" was originally recorded in 1991 for a Flipside magazine compilation, The Big One, produced by Epitaph Records owner (and Bad Religion guitarist) Brett Gurewitz. Also, the track "Get It Right" was re-recorded for this album, having appeared as the first song on the previous EP Baghdad.

Although no videos were released for this album, "Kick Him When He's Down" was released as a single in 1995 to airplay only, probably to promote band's older material after the success of Smash, which was released a year before. The band was surprised by the album's sales, which surpassed 1 million copies worldwide at the time of its release.[2] Ignition was certified Gold on January 22, 1996, nearly two years after the release of Smash.

On June 17, 2008 Epitaph re-released Ignition (along with Smash) in remastered form.[3]
