Count Gil smells tobacco in the house and suspects his wife, Susanna, of having a secret lover. As soon as he leaves the house, their servant Sante brings her the cigarettes so she can relax. Almost immediately her husband returns. She hides the cigarette behind her back and as he tries to grab it he burns himself. Her secret is out and he lights a cigarette also.
