Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing

Society founded in 1904 to supervise teachers of ballroom and other types of dance from around the (then) British empire. It conducts its own examinations and issues diplomas to teachers (either Member or Fellow of ISTD) in over 40 countries world-wide. The Cecchetti Society was incorporated in 1924 and the Greek Dance Association in 1951, and it now has ten faculties each specializing in different forms of theatrical, recreational, and social dance.
