Dictionary of Dance:

Imperiale Accademia di Ballo

The ballet school attached to La Scala di Milano. Founded by B. Ricci in 1812, it was reformed by Blasis when he became director in 1837 and became one of Europe's foremost schools, producing Grisi, Cerrito, Legnani, and Zucchi, among others. Cecchetti was also a pupil and was director from 1928 to 1933.
