‘In dulci jubilo’, a German Christmas carol dating from the 14th c. It is a macaronic poem with alternating Latin and German lines: ‘In dulci jubilo/singet und sit vro’. It is played as an interlude by the shepherds in the Nativity in the biblical play Von dem Anfang und Ende der Welt (1579) by Bartholomäus Krüger.
