Paris and Ile-de-France benefit from an excellent public transportation network connecting the métro, RER, regional trains, trams and buses. And with so many bike lanes and inexpensive taxi fares within the city, using a car in Paris is unnecessary and impractical. Ideally, visitors should only need a car to explore the rest of Ile-de-France. Although most major sights outside Paris can be reached by train or RER, a car offers more freedom to discover the countryside.
